Fall From Grace

Thanks to my cousin Roz for beta-ing.

---

Chester always wanted to be a catwalk model. Ever since he snuck into his mom’s room and tried her clothes and make-up on.

So when he was offered a part for a fashion show, he didn’t just plunge at the chance - he jumped out the plane without his parachute.

The show was to be held in Europe. Smack bang in the middle of their US tour.

With two clashing contracts already signed, Chester had a dilemma.

Mike objected to the idea from the beginning. Even before the dates were announced. He said it would bring Linkin Park bad publicity, while Chester argued any publicity is better than none, and while their on the subject, Fort Minor brought Linkin Park all the bad publicity they could ever have, anything else was just publicity.

Brad, not only being a slight vogue diva himself, but Chester’s current significant other, laughed and encouraged him. Saying he should go and strut his stuff for the camera. Mike said this would be nothing new. Chester laughed.

Joe and Phoenix were apathetic, stating that as long as the tour is uninterrupted, they’re okay with it, although the thought of Chester in a dress was disturbing. Brad said Chester in a dress would be great, for easy access reasons. Chester suppressed a smile, and said it’s a male fashion show. Mike snarled, and said Chester wearing a dress would only fuel his hormones and mood swings.

Rob didn’t have anything to say. He just shrugged and carried on watching TV. Chester said he could always count on Rob’s support.

The fans thought it was funny, when Chester signed into the LPU under an anonymous name and suggested the idea. Mike said they support it because they don’t know its happening. Chester told Mike to grow up. Mike said he did the day he left Chester.

Chester wasn’t scheduled to play on the night of the fashion show. So he decided to hire a private jet. Just under 8 hours after boarding the aircraft, he deplaned in Paris. Brad had come for moral support; Mike had come to watch Chester’s fall from grace.

A limousine took them to their location, and while Chester went backstage, Mike and Brad took their front row seats.

The show went without a hitch. Until Chester came out.

Fans had managed to get hold of some of the prestigious tickets. The stage was stormed, Chester was ordered back, and security was called.

Chester was told for his safety, he wouldn’t be allowed to continue the show. Chester nodded, wounds already forming.

After the show, he climbed back into the limousine with Brad and Mike, and sat in silence, watching the scenery roll by.

On the plane, Chester could see the awkward side glances from both of his friends. He told Mike that he was right to disapprove. He apologized for wasting Brad’s time.

Mike excused himself, and Brad told him that he didn’t waste his time. And things will be different next time.

Chester said there won’t be a next time, because no matter how hard he tries, and no matter how perfect he is for it, he’ll never be a model. He’ll always just be Linkin Park’s singer.

He fell asleep soon after, tears drying on his cheeks.
