I will update this story when I can. If I miss a day, I will update 'Addicted', and vice versa. I have some fans wanting that one finished as well. This isn't going to be what you guys expected, but it will be good nonetheless. So here is the first chapter, and it's kind of short, but... Enjoy!

Sidenote: Question about the rules... Is using my character as the main character against the rules...?

"3. Only stories revolving around a Linkin Park member. If your story has an original character as a main character - especially Mary Sues - please post them else where."

Someone let me know in the reviews and I will make the nessesary changes. Thank you!

Kenji climbed the hill, careful not to slip in the loose soil. He was a clumsy kid, his mom says he got that from her. Everything else, his looks, determination, and his talents, He got those from his father. He shook his father from his mind as he climbed, catching up to his friends Connor and Caleb. These two were a piece of work... They had been best friends with Kenji his whole life, a simple 15 years, and he still wasn't sure he even wanted to be friends with them. This was on his mind all that morning until now, as he watched them whispering about him.

"He won't do it, he'll chicken out." Caleb said. Connor just nodded as they all continued up the hill.

Kenji was 15 today. That was a bad age to be, that's the age when you have to prove that you're a man, capable of manly things and such. Kenji personally didn't care about proving himself. He was a man whether or not his friends and peers believed it. He had to be ever since his father left. His father, Mom called him Mike, had been gone the better of 16 years. He never met Kenji. He was forced into service of the Colony 3 months before Kenji was born. His brother Otis left when Kenji was 6.

Kenji missed Otis the most... He pushed them both from his mind once more and focused on the task at hand. Climbing the hill to The Pit.

The Pit was the young generations means to determining who was man, and who wasn't. The Pit was a funnel shaped hole in the earth. It had long since filled with water, about 3/4 of the way full, and was very deep. When a young one turned 15, they would hold a 'ceremony' of sorts with their closest friends, and jump into The Pit.

Kenji had heard it was an old nuke testing sight, and that The Pit was a result of a bomb. He was also told that it was an old town that overnight was mysteriously overrun by Walkers and had to be destroyed. Others say it's an old mining quarry. Kenji isn't sure what to believe, he had never seen it with his own eyes. As he neared the top of the hill, his heart started pounding.

"Come on, Kenji. Quit stalling..." Connor said from the top of the hill.

"I'm not. Just trying to save my energy to swim." Kenji said as he climbed over the final hump to the top.

The Pit looked to be an old quarry, Kenji decided. It was definitely wider then he expected, and deeper. He was relieved though as he looked into the crystal blue water. He was told it had it's own ecosystem, and that their were monsters of unimaginable proportions living in it. He could see clearly now. Their were no monsters.

Caleb and Connor looked at him expectantly. Connor was 17. Caleb, Connor's brother, was 16. They had been here before. They knew what to expect. I didn't...

"You gonna do it? Or you scared?" Connor asked, his freckles becoming more pronounced with his evil smirk.

"Yea, I am going to do it. Will you shutup...?" Kenji said as he neared the edge and looked down. It was a long way down...

"Your mother is going to kill you Kenji Shinoda!" Came a female voice from behind me. Connor and Caleb jumped, looked behind, and freaked out. They split, running into the trees to avoid being caught and getting in trouble. The Pit was in a forbidden zone, and you had to sneak through three different blockades to get there.

Kenji looked back just as Lily and Lila appeared from the trees. Lily was older then Lila by 20 minutes, and was trudging toward Kenji on a mission. He wasn't going to miss his chance.

Kenji took four steps back. Lily shouted at him, but he didn't hear what she had said. He ran at full speed toward the edge, and pushed off with his legs at the final second. He soared up and away from the earth, the cliff disappearing from under and behind him as the water took it's place. He flailed his arms madly to stay upright as he neared the water almost in slow motion. He brought his legs together to avoid getting nutcracked as he hit the icy blue water.

The water was colder then he expected, and he had to fight hard not to gasp. he plummeted deep, pressure from the depth on his ears and eyes. He thrashed to break the surface.

When he did, his lungs expanded to take in fresh oxygen. Lily and Lily stood at the top of the cliff. Lily had her arms crossed over her chest, Lila stood with her hands in her pockets, shuffling her feet. Lily spoke.

"Get up here... The Colony has arrived..."

My breathing hitched and I swam for the edge of the water. I used to old plumbing and tree roots to climb up. It was a long way up.

He reached the top. Lily was gone, but Lila remained, standing there with her hands still in her pockets. She nodded as I approached.

"Hey Lila..." Kenji said with a smile. She smiled and nodded again in greeting.

Lila was older then Kenji, by about 9 years, but she was his closest friend. She was also deaf... Her sister Lily, obviously wasn't either of these things. Lily hastily started walking through the tall grass to the trees. She signed to Kenji as she walked.

"I think your father is coming home." Kenji said aloud as he watched Lily's hands move. He stopped walking, looking at Lily incredulously. She sighed, and grabbed Kenji's hand, pulling him along. She signed some more.

"Come on, your mom is freaking out. It will be okay..." Kenji interpreted as they walked.

As they neared the city, Kenji could see that the Colony was indeed arriving. The shuttle had all but landed, and was hovering over the landing space in the center of the city. Talinda was in the clearing in front of them, her hand holding her hat down as we approached. She was upset.

"Where have you been?" She asked them as she dusted Kenji's jeans off. She sighed. "You were at The Pit, weren't you?? Get inside and get dressed before you give Anna a heart attack..." She said as she pushed him along toward the house.

Anna sat in the window, where she seemed to spend most of her time. She disappeared as they approached and emerged from the front door. She looked very worried.

"Kenji, thank god... Come on. The alarm went off, I think your father is home..." She said referring to the alarms integrated into the homes, put there to sound when a member of the family living there is returning home, dead or alive. She was very excited now, her features raised as she pulled him along by his arm for the center of the city, toward the large shiny shuttle.

"What if it's Otis, Mom?" Kenji asked as they went. Mom didn't answer, just pulled Kenji along to the landing pad.
