Not me checking for an update on 2023 ... Ight

Wow! Just decided to read this, and I am blown away. Even though it's super-short, you wrote it really well. (Don't worry, I understand about the writer's block. It sucks.)

How badly is Mike hurt now? Chester seems extremely alarmed... o.o

Please please please PLEASE finish this! It's the best fanfic I've ever read and I really want to know what happens!

But seriously, this is still absolutely marvelous story telling. I understand exactly how you feel. I have a host of ideas in my head, but generally I get them down on paper or onto a word processor and then they run out on me, stall and die and I'm left with WIP place holders and nothing much to do with them. (Space cowbows! That was my favourite. Never going to happen. I can't remember the premise much beyond Cowboy Bebop.) So I'm actually impressed that your writers' block hasn't affected the flow adversely.

Back to what you have written, though - I'm still in love with your 'verse. I love how it's peeling, run-down, lived in and falling apart. It's still my favourite version of the future. And you have me intrigued by this notion of synthetic war machines that look act and feel real, not that I by any stretch of the imagination want to believe that Chester isn't human.

I also enjoy - and shall continue to enjoy - the fact that their "relationship" is a slow burn, and based on a mutual need for human contact, not any deep rooted notion of love or affection. I don't know where you plan to take it, but from this reader's perspective, that's what I enjoy.

I was only discussing with a friend of mine the other day that I have a basically nihilistic approach to the books I enjoy and the cinema I enjoy. I've felt for a long time (probably since I first read Wuthering Heights) that my favourite stories are the ones where everyone is miserable and everybody dies. Well, we know Mike (or possibly a version of Mike?!) dies. It's predestined. And at this point, it'd be hard to argue that everybody isn't miserable. I love it. Thank you!

I miss this story so much I'm dying to see an update. This story is too good to be left un-updated for more than 2 months. It's a crime against humanity, so... yeah, update and you wont go to jail. You're killing me I swear lol. XD

Well. Holy cream crackers. I'm a bit speechless right now, to be honest. This may just be one of the best AU fics I've read in this fandom (or any fandom, for that matter). Every time I finish a chapter, I literally have to sit back for a few seconds and absorb the awesomeness before moving onto the next one. xD

I actually read the prologue of this a while ago- when I was still a lurker on the site and didn't have an account- and it piqued my interest. I suddenly remembered it yesterday night and read all the chapters (so far) today.

But anyway. You don't want to hear about how I started reading the story. I'll stop rambling and launch into the actual review now!

The thing that really dragged me into the story was your writing style. It's so gorgeous and descriptive and self-assured and cinematic (I don't know if you can use that word to describe writing, but hey ho). I also find that that's the case in all of your stories (I read them all when I was acount-less as well... I am definitely a fan). I can definitely tell that you care about your writing; every word seems to have been considered carefully and fits perfectly like a piece in a jigsaw. It definitely gets bonus points from me when I can tell that an author takes time over their work.

The second thing is your characterisation. It's absolutely BRILLIANT. You manipulate the reader so that they feel such a wide range of emotions for Michael and Chester, and they really come to care about them. I love how you have them interact with each other; it doesn't come across as false or forced. The dialogue flows so naturally. Even the characters with the smaller roles leave a lasting impression, like Brad and Hahn.

Thirdly, it's clear that you spent a lot of time thinking out the story. Of course, you said at the beginning that you've been planning this for a while. But even if you hadn't said that, I would have known that you're not just making this up as you go along. And I can tell that you've done research relating to the story. I guess this goes back to the thing about writers caring about their stories.

Fourthly (is that even a word?), there's this... this undercurrent of sexiness coursing through the story that I just LOVE. Y'know, just those little things. Those little things that are deliciously subtle and suggestive and make my inner fangirl happy. Like the scene where Chester tries to attack Michael with his blades and Michael swings him around and slams him into the wall.

You said in one of your author's notes that some people feel that the relationship is progressing too slowly. I am not one of those people. I love it when writers take time to develop and evolve relationships slowly like you're doing.

Fifthly (again, is that a word?), I love how you lace the story with humour despite the fact that the topic is quite grim (y'know, practical apocalypse and 'Illuminati' and all that). The R2 thing killed me. xD

Anyway, I've realised that this review is getting extremely long and rambly, and that I've been writing it for about forty minutes, so I'm going to shut up now. I look forward to the next installment!

I've been reading this from the beginning and I FREAKIN' LOVE EVERY DAMN LINE.

I don't even know what to say, other than "I love this". But that's a major understatement.

I love your writing style, it's really technical and adds more flavor to the story. I feel like I can actually see all this happening. Believe me, it's a great feeling. And as for the Illuminati - genius. I swear. (I mean you, not the Illuminati.) I've heard a helluva lot about the Illuminati, and your description matches pretty closely, as it happens.

You're a genius, really. I wish that someday I find it in myself to stop being so lazy and try to really accomplish some great, not-so-mediocre story.

This has got to be one of the greatest stories ever on this site. I can't begin to express to you how much I love this story. I'm in such suspense over if Chester actually dies in the end or not.. I cry thinking about it!!! Is it wrong to chant, "OMG JUST KISS HIM ALREADY"? Idk why.. I just feel like Chester needs that kind of "love" or at least care in his life to get him through his illness. Like.. if he knows someone actually cares about his survival he'll try harder instead of just giving up or "knowing" this is it for him; this is all he has left.

I was so relieved to see that he's not synthetic! I'm sure Mike was too. He's so nurturing towards him.. it makes me squeal!! Please update again soon :( I love this story!!!!!!!

It's like you read my mind! I just finished catching up to all those update I lost yesterday, and when I checked LPF today, I found another update from you!! <3 YAY!

I have to say that I'm in love with this story! Each chapter is just epic! I loved every chapter I read!! Seriously. The plot is just awesome. and it makes you wonder, and make you curious to what's gonna happen next! <3 <3 Now, I'm dying to know if Chester is 'human' or not! You got so curious, and I want to know if Mike now has growing feelings towards Chester, or if that just my mind playing tricks. hahaha. I love this 'I think you like to be controled' LOL. That was hot *nods* I love the very small part of Brad and Joe in this story. :D :D just so badass! And speaking of badass, MIKE!! Mike is sooo awesome, and his character is so well-written. First of all, the verbal exchange between Mike and Chester is insanely sexy. Yes, very much so. Second of all, the physical exchange between them is also insanely sexy. And I love how conflicted Mike is, and how Chester recognizes his need to be control. The more Mike is around Chester you can see his control slowly dwindling away from him. Oh, it all makes me so GIDDY, despite the seriousness of the situation.

And yes, get rid of the writer's block. If you ever need another WB breakdown via Twitter - I'm your girl!

The chapter makes me feel much relieved. Chester is not a robot, is he? what I thought about the previous chap is casted in somewhere now. The intenseness between them is wonderful, and indicates some sexy things, yeah, that's really hot. I love the arguement in the end of this chap, amazed me a lot. if there is a moive use it, it would be classical lines.
